I Talk Telly Awards Winners

Last month I launched the first ever I Talk Telly Awards, and after over 30,000 votes, I can now reveal your telly favourites of 2015!

The biggest success story is Peter Kay’s Car Share which won all three awards for which it was nominated; ‘Best New Comedy’, ‘Best Actor in a Comedy’ for Peter Kay, and ‘Best Actress in a Comedy’ for Sian Gibson. The fourth and final comedy award was, ‘Best Returning Comedy’ which went to Benidorm.

In the drama categories, Suranne Jones won ‘Best Actress in a Drama’ for her portrayal of Gemma Foster in Doctor Foster, which also won ‘Best New Drama’. ‘Best Returning Drama’ went to This Is England ’90 and David Tennant won ‘Best Actor in a Drama’ for Broadchurch. The fifth and final award in the drama categories, ‘Best Single Drama’, was won by The C-Word.

Ant & Dec proved very popular with I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! winning ‘Best Reality TV Show’ and the Geordie duo themselves winning ‘Best TV Presenter’.

Winning ‘Best Factual’, with the biggest majority out of all 17 categories, was Professor Green for his very moving and very important documentary Suicide And Me.

Once again 2015 saw the nation fall in love with baking, and in particular The Great British Bake Off which won ‘Best Talent Show’ beating the likes of Britain’s Got Talent, Strictly Come Dancing and The X Factor.

Elsewhere, ‘Best International Series’ was won by Orange Is The New Black, ‘Best Daytime Programme’ went to This Morning and ‘Best Entertainment Programme’ was won by Gogglebox.

And last but not least, it was the turn of the soaps, as Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks battled it out to win ‘Best Soap’ with EastEnders claiming victory with 39.9% of the votes.
