Not content with just having Sherlock on Sundays, BBC One are making weekends all about drama with their new Saturday night drama Taboo.
Taboo is a major eight-episode drama series starring Tom Hardy and is executive produced by Hardy alongside Ridley Scott and Steven Knight, who created the drama.
Set in 1814. Tom Hardy plays James Delaney, a man who has been to the ends of the earth and reappears in London, a changed and haunted man. Presumed dead in Africa many years before, his return finds his father, Horace Delaney, dead and a country at war with France and the United States.
Set to inherit what’s left of his father’s shipping empire, James’ arrival not only threatens to disrupt the plans of his half‐sister Zilpha and her husband Thorne, but also the political ambitions of the mighty East India Company, chaired by Sir Stuart Strange.

Taboo starts Saturday 7th January at 9:15pm on BBC One
