Including Am I Being Unreasonable?, Amandaland, Black Ops and more!

Today, the BBC has confirmed the return of seven of its biggest comedies: Amandaland, Am I Being Unreasonable?, Black Ops, Mammoth, Such Brave Girls, Things You Should Have Done and Two Doors Down.

Here's everything you need to know...

Am I Being Unreasonable?

With series two currently airing on BBC One, it's been confirmed that Amandaland, starring Lucy Punch, Joanna Lumley and Philippa Dunne, will return for a new six-part third series.

Amandaland follows Amanda, played by Lucy Punch, the self-appointed queen of SoHa, as she navigates teens who are now turning into adults and a mother, Felicity, played by Joanna Lumley, who refuses to accept her advancing years. All while she endeavours to build her profile as a super influencer and attain a Chiswick lifestyle on a Harlesden budget.

In series two, which launched last week, we saw the tiniest of romantic frissons between Amanda and fellow divorcee and neighbour Mal, played by Samuel Anderson, we also met Mal's ex, no-nonsense Abs, played by Harriet Webb, with whom Amanda struggled to connect. And of course, Anne, played by Philippa Dunne, who remains Amanda’s loyal and long-suffering best friend.

Speaking ahead of the show's return, co-writer and creator Holly Walsh and co-writer Laurence Rickard said "We are thrilled to be heading back to SoHa for a third series of Amandaland and delighted the show has found the sort of audience that Amanda’s Instagram account could only dream of. We are already priming our keyboards to prompt AI into creating another batch of scripts and can’t wait to be reunited with our incredible cast and crew."

To which, Seb Barwell, BBC Comedy Commissioning Editor, added "Amanda and friends continue to capture the hearts of the nation, so we’re delighted to announce a third series and to keep up our 'co-lab' with this amazing team."

Made by Merman, Amandaland was created by Sharon Horgan, Holly Walsh, Helen Serafinowicz and Barunka O'Shaughnessy, written by Holly Walsh and Laurence Rickard, and executive produced by Sharon Horgan, Holly Walsh, Helen Serafinowicz, Laurence Rickard and Faye Dorn.

Am I Being Unreasonable?

BBC One has finally confirmed that Daisy May Cooper and Selin Hizli's brilliantly twisted comedy thriller, Am I Being Unreasonable? will return for a third and final series.

Filmed in Bristol, Gloucestershire and the West Country, the new series will pick up where series two ended. Is Nic’s confession finally out there? What exactly did Jen do to Mrs Baggot? Has Dan put a bun in the wrong oven? Did Ollie make Suzie go away?

In this murky moral tale everyone is forced to confront their messy realities once and for all. We’re never sure who knows what in this brilliantly complex series, but amongst the increasingly tangled web of lies and blurred boundaries are hilarious set-pieces from the colourful comic characters who live in the village of Copbury.

Ahead of the show's return, Daisy May Cooper and Selin Hizli said "We’re so excited (and slightly concerned) to return to the mad world of Am I Being Unreasonable? The first two series have been an absolute joy to make and we couldn’t be more grateful to be back for a third time with our incredible cast and crew. There’s a lot to say in this series - some of which we probably shouldn’t - but we’re hoping to end on a high. Even if some of our characters might not… So, stay safe, trust no one and remember to always keep the receipts…"

To which Executive Producer for Boffola Pictures, Shane Allen, executive producer, added "Our eccentric blend of character driven comedy and panic attack plotting sees loyalties pinball in all directions. Daisy and Selin’s scripts for this series are chockfull of jaw drop ideas and outrageously funny dialogue."

And the BBC's Director of Comedy, Jon Petrie, said "It’s brilliant to be bringing Am I Being Unreasonable? back for its third and final series. Daisy May Cooper and Selin Hizli have created a comedy that is bold, surprising and emotionally fearless, and its BAFTA‑winning success is a testament to their extraordinary talent. We’re incredibly grateful to them, and the whole team behind the series, and we can’t wait for audiences to see how they bring this story to a close."

Made by Boffola Pictures, Am I Being Unreasonable? is produced by Ali Marlow, directed by Emily McDonald and executive produced by Shane Allen, Daisy May Cooper and Selin Hizli.

Black Ops

Black Ops is returning to BBC One for a third series as Gbemisola Ikumelo and Hammed Animashaun will return to play chaotic but lovable duo, Dom and Kay. And they’ve been given their first undercover mission by MI5!

With Dom as leader and Kay her undercover ‘asset’, their mission: to uncover the identities of a secretive far-right terror group via a shady museum director selling off artefacts to fund them. But a figure from Kay’s past, a past he’d rather forget, resurfaces, threatening the mission and Dom and Kay’s friendship.

The pair once again battle to keep the nation safe in a high-wire caper taking in billionaires, a windsurfing incident and an impromptu trip to the Peak District.

Ahead of the show's return, Gbemisola Ikumelo said "We’re back again and I’m so excited to step back into Dom’s shoes for series three and to share what shenanigans she gets up to. It’s such a gift to be creating the third iteration of this show, as we are all a well-oiled team of creatives now, who genuinely love and respect these characters and the world of Black Ops. We can’t wait to get started!"

To which Akemnji Ndifornyen added "Three is the magic number, apparently, so we’re happy to bring the show back for a third run! From community support officers to MI5, whatever could be next for Dom and Kay? Two things are for sure though, it’s going to be a chaotic ride full of well-meaning blunders and, of course, Tevin will be keeping watch!"

The BBC's Director of Comedy, Jon Petrie, said "Across its first two series, Black Ops has picked up critical acclaim, awards and a very loyal army of fans. Dom and Kay’s chaotic brilliance has clearly struck a chord, and Gbemisola, Akemnji, Joe and Lloyd keep pushing the show into bold, surprising and properly funny places. We’re so pleased to bring it back for a third series. It’s sharp, fearless, and exactly the kind of comedy we’re proud to back on the BBC."

And co-creators and lead writers, Joe Tucker and Lloyd Woolf, said "Some people are just a magnet for drama. That includes Dom and Kay, who find themselves neck-deep once again – in new and exciting ways that fully validate a third series. We’re delighted to be getting the Black Ops band back together and can’t wait to share the results!"

Made by BBC Studios Comedy and co-produced with Mondo Deluxe, Cool Story, and Swagbag Productions, Black Ops is created by Gbemisola Ikumelo, Akemnji Ndifornyen, Joe Tucker and Lloyd Woolf and executive produced by Josh Cole.

Mammoth

BBC Two has confirmed that its hit Welsh comedy Mammoth, about a PE teacher from the 70s who gets a second chance at life, will return for a third series with Mike Bubbins returning to play Tony Mammoth.

Tony was believed to have perished in an avalanche during a school trip in 1979, but attempts to rebuild his life after miraculously returning from the dead when his body is discovered frozen in time.

The new five-part series, set and filmed in and around Cardiff, sees Mammoth continuing to try to acclimatise to the modern world, but due to his thin skin and inability to keep his thoughts to himself, he often puts his big retro shoes in it, on all fronts.

Returning for series three are Sian Gibson as his daughter Mel, Joel Davison, as Mel’s son Theo, and Joseph Marcell as Mammoth’s long-suffering best friend Roger.

Ahead of the show's return, Mike Bubbins said "I can’t wait for people to see the next adventures in the life of Tony Mammoth. He’s back funnier, bolder, and dafter than ever. When I first came up with the idea, I didn’t dream that in a few years it would be back for a third series."

"It’s once again been a lot of hard work for me, Paul Doolan and Luke Mason, although when the three of us spend our days in a room together laughing, I’m reminded that it’s not exactly the same sort of hard work that my grandad did toiling away as coal miner for 50 years. Although, in fairness, we have both never won a BAFTA. So make sure you watch the new series, and don’t forget…Mammoth is the word!"

To which Luke Mason, producer and co-writer, added "t’s a pleasure working on another series of Mammoth and this series promises to be the boldest and silliest one yet.”

Josh Cole, CCO of BBC Studios Fiction & Comedy, said "We’re delighted to be delving deeper into Mammoth without leaning too far into the traumatic decades he spent frozen alive in the ice. We’re so proud of this show: a big, bold, laugh out loud creation from a unique voice."

To which the BBC's Director of Comedy, Jon Petrie, added "Mike Bubbins and the team have made something that feels completely its own. Warm, daft, joyful and full of heart. Audiences have really taken Tony Mammoth and his ridiculous misadventures to their hearts too, and we’re very proud to keep backing such brilliant original comedy from Wales."

And Nick Andrews, Head of Commissioning, BBC Wales, said "We knew Mammoth was a winner when we commissioned the pilot episode several years ago. It’s been terrific to watch the character develop over time – even though the line where Mike Bubbins stops and Tony Mammoth starts has become ever harder to distinguish! Comedy in Wales is in rude health and this series exemplifies the distinctive worlds being brought to life by the sector here – it’s hilarious."

Made by BBC Studios Comedy, Mammoth is created by Mike Bubbins, co-written with Paul Doolan and Luke Mason, produced by Luke Mason and executive produced by Josh Cole and Steven Canny.

Such Brave Girls

BBC Three's hit comedy from Kat Sadler, Such Brave Girls, will be returning for a third series, and pinky promises to be uplifting. Sadler returns as Josie, with Lizzie Davidson back as sister Billie, and Louise Brealey back as mother Deb, and they are finally happy!

They didn’t need men, and the magic was in them all along. Pass the tissues! Just kidding, things are set to get worse for the family at the heart of the BBC’s feel-bad sitcom.

Ahead of the show's return, Kat Sadler said "An honour and a shock that the BBC would willingly let us rancid little worms back into the building. I promise I will make them regret this decision."

To which the BBC's Director of Comedy, Jon Petrie, added "After a breakout debut and multiple award wins, we’re chuffed that the brilliant Kat Sadler’s fearless comedy is back for a third series. This one promises to bring even more turmoil from a family who make dysfunction look effortless."

And Executive Producer for VAL, Jack Bayles, said "Well done to the BBC for spotting that Such Brave Girls is in fact a vital public service. A tremendous hit of schadenfreude for these trying times – the kind that only Kat Sadler can deliver."

Made by Various Artists Lrd, in association with A24,
Such Brave Girls is produced by Catherine Gosling Fuller, directed by Simon Bird and executive produced by Kat Sadler, Jack Bayles and Phil Clarke.

Things You Should Have Done

Lucia Keskin's hilarious BBC Three comedy Things You Should Have Done, created from the unique comedy mind of Lucia Keskin, will be returning for a third series, promising another dose of hilariously offbeat, dysfunctional family-sitcom.

The series, filmed and set in Ramsgate, Kent, will welcome back self-confessed ‘stay at home daughter’ Chi, as she navigates her way through a list of 'Things You Should Have Done’ left by her late parents, with the aid of her dysfunctional remaining family Dave, played by Dan Fearn, Lucas, played by Jamie Bisping, and unhinged grief therapist Ruth, played by Bridget Christie.

Series 3 will see Chi set out to be a positive force in the world following a brush with the law. Meanwhile, step-cousin Lucas is by her side, doing the wrong things for the right reasons, Dave worries about the legacy he’s leaving behind, and Ruth has to turn therapy on herself when her life is shaken up.

Ahead of the new series, writer and creator Lucia Keskin, said "Thanks BBC for making me have to get out of bed and work again. I’m very excited to work with my favourite people even more."

To which producer Steve Monger, added "After two award-winning series and the world’s first pedalo based chat show spin-off, we’re buzzing to bring you a third round of low-key chaos down by the coast."

And BBC's Director of Comedy, Jon Petrie, said "We, along with the good people of Ramsgate, never quite know what we’re going to get with Things You Should Have Done, but we know it’ll be funny, strange and completely its own thing. Series three promises to be every bit as wonderfully weird, surreal and brilliant as the first two award-winning series, and we can't wait to see what Chi has to tick off her list next!"

Made by Roughcut TV, Things You Should Have Done is written and created by Lucia Keskin, produced by Steve Monger, directed by Jack Clough and executive produced by Ash Atalla and Alex Smith.

Two Doors Down

Following last year's Christmas special, the BBC has confirmed that Two Doors Down will be returning to BBC One and BBC Scotland for its eighth series, and first full run since 2023.

Series eight will pick up exactly where the 2025 Christmas special left us. Beth and Eric, played by Arabella Weir and Alex Norton, are still clinging to the hope of a quiet life, but their best efforts are no match for the relentless chaos supplied by neighbours Colin and Cathy, played by Jonathan Watson and Doon Mackichan, and Christine, played by Elaine C Smith.

Meanwhile, Michelle, played by Joy McAvoy, is preparing for the new arrival, while Gordon, played by Kieran Hodgson, throws himself into further education. Alan, played by Graeme Stevely and Ian, played by Jamie Quinn, also return, doing their level best to support their partners, with mixed results.

With its trademark blend of sharp character comedy and domestic disaster, the new series, set and filmed in Glasgow, will drop us right back into the wonderfully claustrophobic and painfully familiar world of Latimer Crescent.

Speaking ahead of the new series, writer and co-creator Gregor Sharp said "It was a lot of fun putting the band back together for the Christmas episode last year, so I’m really excited to be coming back with some new tunes, which we hope will turn out just as special. The cast are the most talented group of performers you could wish for, and I can’t wait to get started."

To which the BBC's Director of Comedy, Jon Petrie, added "Eight series in, and the team are still making a world that audiences properly love spending time in. That’s no mean feat, and it’s a huge credit to the talent, care and commitment behind the show. We’re really proud to bring it back for another series."

Louise Thornton, Head of Commissioning for BBC Scotland, said "It’s fantastic to be returning once more to Latimer Crescent and these wonderfully written and performed characters.  We know how much they are loved by audiences up and down the country and we’re delighted to be bringing it back and stepping into their lives once again."

And Josh Cole, CCO of BBC Studios Fiction & Comedy, said "We’re thrilled to be returning to Latimer Crescent, and are certainly more excited to see Cathy, Colin, Christine and the gang descend on their neighbours than we suspect Eric and Beth might be."

Made by BBC Studios Comedy, Two Doors Down is written by Gregor Sharp and was created by Sharp and Simon Carlyle. And it's executive produced by Steven Canny and Josh Cole for BBC Studios, and Gregor Sharp.
