A special missing year episode reveals several hidden truths in Hollyoaks

A shocking revelation unfolds after Tommy attempts to trigger Joel’s memory by taking him to the hospital. Tommy's brother, Billy, is in a coma.

As Joel grapples with this new information, his search for answers takes him into the missing year, unravelling hidden truths.

During Monday's special missing year episode...

We travel back to last year as we see Joel and Leela’s marriage teetering on the edge, as Leela’s behaviour has become increasingly erratic since Theresa’s party in the woods.

With Joel’s grief too much to bear, he heads out to buy drugs but is stunned to find his dad, Warren Fox.

At the McQueens, we learn that Mercedes has been experiencing concerning bowel changes, including blood in her poo, prompting her to schedule a colonoscopy. Whilst Maxine, feels the warmth of a rekindled romance with Dodger.

As she opens up to Leela about her upcoming hospital appointment, Mercedes accidentally knocks over Leela’s bag, revealing a pregnancy test.

Unable to carry the weight of her secret any longer, Leela admits she was sexually assaulted while drunk and Mercedes urges her to tell Joel the truth. Soon, Leela’s pregnancy test comes back positive revealing her growing concerns.

Outside the hospital, Freddie encounters Warren, who enlists Arlo’s help to deliver Mercedes a letter.

In the village, Freddie hurries to Grace and Rex, learning that his daughter, Lexi, has been taken to the hospital after being left alone with Curtis. As Freddie and Grace race to be by her side, Dodger watches them from a distance.

Meanwhile at a nightclub, Joel intervenes when he sees Tommy being bullied by his brother, Billy.

Back in the present day...

Joel wakes up at Tommy’s place, burdened with some distressing new information. Not wanting to let him out of his grasp, Tommy tries to turn Joel against his wife.

As Grace plans her own party behind DI Banks’s back, Rex doubts Robbie is the mole but gives him one last chance to tell him what he needs to know, with even the threat of getting to Lexi not working, he leaves Dodger to get rid of him.

Fighting his conscience, Rex manipulates Dillon and Frankie and invites them to Grace’s party at The Loft, promising protection.

Having doubts but feeling like they don’t have a choice, Dillon and Frankie head to the party and after a disastrous end to the party, Grace buys Frankie and Dillon’s silence. And later, Donny turns up with a kind gesture for Dillon, showing the troubled youngster the love his family has for him

Turning to Maxine for advice, Sienna is lost for words when she faces her long-lost twin Dodger, and things get more complicated when the family reunion unexpectedly grows.

Elsewhere, Leela pushes Joel to tell Tommy he can’t have any more sessions with him and Tommy panics that Joel is ending their friendship.

Back at home, Joel tells Leela he thinks he should keep on seeing Tommy and defends the therapist’s recent actions.
