He'll play Daniel Cook, a new love interest for Jean Slater.
Described as "charming and with a wicked sense of humour", Daniel is the perfect antidote for Jean as she continues her treatment for ovarian cancer.
At first, Jean is unsure about Daniel but as he offers his support in his own unique way, Jean warms to him and the pair strike up a bond.
Speaking about joining EastEnders, Adrian said “There were only fifteen boys on my drama course at Manchester Uni, and I’ll be the third to appear in EastEnders - so I feel it’s a kind of tradition! The other two being Tom Watt (Lofty Holloway) and Paul Bradley (Nigel Bates).”
Executive Producer for EastEnders, Jon Sen added: “Adrian’s a phenomenal talent who will bring his unique blend of intelligence, warmth and humour to the role of Daniel. We’re all over the moon he’s coming to Walford and can’t wait for this love story to hit screens later this year.”
Adrian has started filming with his first appearance airing later this summer.
Adrian has enjoyed an illustrious career in television and was a comedy heavyweight in the 80s and 90s, famous for his roles in The Young Ones and Bottom. More recently, Adrian has taken on more diverse roles in numerous dramas including: Holby City, Bancroft and War and Peace.
He has already started filming and viewers will be able to see him on screen later this summer.
