Is Asha’s world falling apart just as Aadi walks away?

23-29 AUGUST

Steve and Mary hit on a plan to make Aadi stay in Weatherfield by getting him and Amy back together. Dev agrees to help and it looks as though it might work but despite agreeing to remind friends, Aadi says he is looking forward to his new life in India.

As Dev hugs him emotionally, Asha hurries out in tears and in the Rovers’ backyard, we see her struggling to breathe, overwhelmed by a panic attack.

In the Rovers’ backyard, Asha remains in the throes of a panic attack and relives all the stress and horror of her last ambulance shift.

In a flashback, we see the full horror of the day Asha has had, which has led up to the panic attack… a death, an injured old lady and finally a racist attack on her.

As Asha sits with her eyes closed, struggling to breathe, Gemma approaches and offers words of comfort as a fellow twin. She urges Asha to rejoin Aadi’s leaving party as he’ll be wondering where she’s got to.

When Aadi finds Asha sitting on the bench in the backyard, he senses that she’s not herself and she begins to open up about her awful day. But when Dev arrives, she clams up.

As Asha heads back into the pub, Aadi’s left concerned and offers to stay if she wants but she brushes her problems off as tiredness and soon records a voice note for Aadi, telling him how much she’s going to miss him and how she doesn’t think she’ll cope and begging him not to go.

As her finger hovers over ‘send’, she breaks down in tears. Will she send it?

Knowing that her brother is about to leave for a new life thousands of miles away, Asha struggled with her day. Having said her goodbyes she heads out on her shift with Sienna but things take a sinister turn when she is called to a car accident and as she arrives she recognises the car as Aadi’s what has happened?

In the bistro a devastated Asha loses her temper and screams at Brody for arguing with another customer and Sienna does her best to calm her down but tells her that her behaviour is unacceptable and that if she does it again she will have to report her.

Having tried but failed to open up to Dev about how she is feeling, a drunken Asha is eventually rescued by a sympathetic Lisa in The Rovers.

Asha finally unburdens herself and tells Lisa about the woman she tried to help who verbally abused her and then assaulted her. And Lisa urges her to report the incident to her manager.

At No.7, a hungover Asha tells Dev she’s called in sick as she’s got a headache. But when Dev suggests she’s swinging the lead, Asha snaps at him and struggles to appear enthusiastic about Summer’s birthday plans. Finding Asha in the Rovers, Sienna quizzes her about the fact she called in sick and Asha admits she lied.

Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 with first look episodes available from 7am on ITVX
