Bernie gets drunk with Mal as she struggles with grief in Corrie

Will she end up doing something she regrets?

24-30 JANUARY

At the station, Kit returns Summer’s stolen rucksack to her and when she looks inside, she's amazed to find the bag containing Paul’s ashes is still there.

In charge of the shop, with Dev at the wholesalers, an emotional Summer helps herself to the booze in the fridge When Roy calls in to get some sweets for his first meeting with Alice, he finds Summer drunk behind the counter. Will Roy get to his date?

Calling at the shop, Bernie tells Summer that she has a plan for Paul’s ashes. And Roy confides in Mary how he sent Alice some flowers and it would seem she’s forgiven him for the other day.

Bernie takes her grief out on Dev and after making some nasty and hurtful remarks, she heads upstairs with a bottle of wine.

Later, a man in his fifties calls at the cafe and introduces himself as Mal, and explains to Roy that he’s Alice’s husband as a shocked Roy tries to explain.

When Bernie tells Dev that she’s off for a boozy night out with the girls, he warns her that booze isn’t the answer, and she snaps at him before storming upstairs.

Meeting up with Gemma, Sally, Glenda and Christina, Bernie knocks back numerous shots, before announcing she is going home. But in the Chariot Square bar, Bernie downs another shot and orders a whisky.

Mal joins her at the bar and after introducing himself, explains that his wife has been having an affair. As Bernie opens up to Mal about Paul and Billy’s love for each other, Ryan asserts that they’ve had enough and asks them to leave.

But when Mal invites Bernie up to his room, will she accept?

At No.7, Dev’s beside himself with worry, but Kit and Asha assure him that Bernie will be fine.

In the cafe, Sally treats Brody to a birthday breakfast and a worried Gemma confides in Roy that Bernie’s missing. Will Ryan tell her what he knows?

As Dev, Asha, Gemma and Chesney get ready to leave for Brody’s party, a dishevelled Bernie arrives home. Outside No.4, Bernie admits to Gemma that last night she messed up. As Bernie turns, she’s horrified to see Mal approaching.

Meanwhile, Nina tells Roy that the electricity is off in the flat and assures her that he’s called an electrician. How will he react when Mal returns?
