But is she guilty of attacking him?

21-27 FEBRUARY

Dev and Asha set off for a few days of dad and daughter time and as Roy sets off to the bank, Bernie is left alone with Mal, who seizes the opportunity by locking the café door and confessing his feelings.

When Bernie rejects him, Mal's attention turns sinister, leaving her visibly terrified.

Later, Bernie is left thoroughly spooked after discovering someone has cut her head out of her wedding picture. And she flees the house in fear. Has Mal gone from admirer to tormentor?

Summoning Mal, Bernie shows him the defaced wedding photo and accuses him of breaking in. Mal denies it, but Bernie orders him to clear off back to Inverness, or she’ll report him to the police.

When Tracy reveals that Ken is looking for a good electrician, Roy immediately sings Mal’s praises, but when Bernie leaps in and warns her to steer well clear, Roy is left baffled.

Hearing someone at the door, Bernie is fearful that it might be Mal and picks up a golf club. Relieved to find it’s Kit, she then confides in him about her secret night with Mal and his subsequent torment.

Later, Mal storms into the café and publicly rails at Bernie, forcing Roy to intervene and throw him out.

When Dev and Asha return home in high spirits, the question remains: will Bernie open up to Dev about what has been going on with Mal?

As she spells out to Mal that unless he stays away from her she will kill him, Bernie fails to notice a passerby as Mal laughs in her face and asserts that he’s not going anywhere.

Meanwhile, at the station, Lisa tells Kit about a bloke who was found lying in the street with a head injury. Looking at the file, Kit is shocked to recognise the name.

As Bernie packs her bags, Kit calls at the hospital to find out more about Mal’s injuries, where the doctor explains that he’s in a critical condition.

Entering the café, DC Browning tells Bernie that he’s arresting her on suspicion of assault. But is she guilty?

When Kit visits Bernie in her police cell, she assures him of her innocence.

Under interview, Bernie tells DC Browning how she spent a night with Mal, but only as friends and since then he’s been stalking and harassing her. But is Bernie telling the truth?
