But will Cain and Moira tell the boys?

 13-19 JUNE

Kyle is thrilled when Cain tells him how proud of him he is and how he wants to come to his swearing-in ceremony at cadets.

Taking the Army Cadet oath, Kyle looks out for his father's support but is visibly disappointed when he sees his chair is empty. Meanwhile, Cain bursts into the Woolpack toilets, horrified at the wet patch on his trousers. Mortified, he immediately hides in a cubicle.

After entering and seeing his situation, Charles soon returns with a pair of clean trousers and hands them under the cubicle door to a humiliated Cain, who finally accepts the help.

Still reeling from the embarrassment of his incontinence. Charles and Bob try to comfort Cain and assure him of their discretion, encouraging him to be brave and return to the ceremony.

When he returns, Cain awkwardly confesses his accident to Kyle as he apologises for missing the swearing-in. But Kyle reassures his dad that he wasn't embarrassed and is just pleased that he came back.

Later, Cain confesses to Moira his fear that his health issues are making him "less of a man", but she passionately reassures him that facing his fears makes him stronger.

At the hospital, Ms Rhodes informs Cain and Moira that, although the surgery was successful, tests show that it is highly likely the cancer has spread slightly, leaving them both devastated not to have gotten all clear.

After learning that he will need further treatment, but must wait months for it as his body needs time to heal from the prostatectomy to let his body heal, Cain spirals and Ms Rhodes also confirms there is a realistic chance the radiotherapy could make his current side effects permanent.

Together, Cain and Moira decide not to tell the boys, but it's not long before family secrets are revealed.

Emmerdale continues Monday to Friday at 8pm on ITV1 with first look episodes available from 7am on ITVX
