But does Carter have an ulterior motive? And what is he hiding?
Still determined to dig the dirt out on Carter, Goldie sneaks into the schoolyard to question Freya. But it isn’t long before she’s spotted by the new headteacher himself. Wanting to prove himself, Carter offers Goldie a job in the school canteen.
On her first day, Goldie sees it as a mission to take down Carter, leaving Sally concerned. At school, Hunter finds a letter from Freya declaring her love for him and Goldie hears that journalists are coming into the school to report on the new headteacher.
Later, with everything that’s recently gone on, Hunter confides in Carter about his concerns over not being able to do his job and the headteacher offers to help him.
When news of Freya trying to kiss Hunter becomes public knowledge, Hunter is unsure he’s able to continue as a teacher, but his family try to persuade him not to give up his career.
Meanwhile, with John Paul still on edge over his brutal attack, Carter approaches him offering to help as he brings up Finn O’Connor and the trauma he's endured. And Sally goes in search of a new job.
In order to help John Paul, Carter encourages him to face his demons by returning to The Loft and John Paul gets chatting with a guy named Billy. Once left alone with the stranger, Carter tells him to leave John Paul alone.
Walking in on the altercation between Billy and Carter, John Paul asks Billy to leave. Once alone, Carter tells John Paul he deserves someone better.
Later, Scott tells the McQueens that he’s been practising a new Drag act that he'll perform later at The Dog’s bingo night.
However, during the bingo night, John Paul begins to have flashbacks from the attack and rushes out.
When an agitated stranger comes looking for Carter and asks for his help, Goldie and Mercedes stumble across them and upon hearing John Paul's name, Goldie is left convinced that Carter is attracted to John Paul.
Meanwhile, with the recent situation with Freya that he’s found himself in, Hunter opens up to Zoe about how he feels his previous relationship with Neeta was all a lie. Wanting to help, Zoe surprises him with paint to cover the mural he once drew.
