The following storylines will air 30th September, 2nd and 4th October at 7.30pm & 8.30pm on ITV

Paul knocks Kel unconscious after realising the truth about being abused

After needing somewhere to crash, Paul stays over at Billy's before calling at No.5 to show Kel the photo and explain how he believes Billy thinks he's been a victim of sexual grooming. Reassuring him that that was never the case, because they loved each other, Kel urges him to tell Billy that nothing happened.

When Billy finds Paul drowning his sorrows in the Rovers, Billy's concerned but Paul makes it clear he doesn't want to discuss it. Drunk, Paul later confronts Kel in the ginnel and tries to kiss him - only to be pushed away - making Paul realise that Kel only fancied him as a young boy. Seeing red, Paul punches Kel, knocking him unconscious.

After hurrying away, Gemma spots Paul's bleeding knuckles but he quickly covers, telling her that he trapped his hand in the van door. But as Kel is found and taken to hospital, Paul admits to Gemma that he gave him a beating. Whilst Gemma begs Bernie not to grass up her own son, Paul confesses to Billy that he's left Kel in a coma. Billy implores Paul to go to the police and admit his crime but also explain how Kel abused him.

In the hospital, the doctor reveals that despite suffering a bleed on the brain, Kel should make a full recovery and when quizzed by the police, Kel lies and says he was jumped on by strangers.

Later, Paul admits to Billy that he couldn't bring himself to report Kel to the police as it would mean raking up the awful past. And Kel claims he could't grass up Paul because he's Bernie's son, but Bernie says she'll never forgive him, demanding to know what their fight was about. Desperate to keep the truth a secret, he makes out their fight was his fault after he made a homophobic jibe.

Much to Paul’s humiliation, Bernie forces him to apologise. Only once they're alone, Kel threatens Paul telling him that if he breathes a word about their relationship he’ll grass him up to the cops for assault. Beaten, Paul packs his bag and heads to the tram stop.

But after Summer begs him not to leave without talking to Billy first, Paul breaks down in Billy’s arms. Will Billy be able to stop him leaving town? After all, Gemma makes it quite clear that she doesn't care and won't try and talk him out of leaving.
