Dancing on Ice 2022 Line-Up

With Strictly underway, ITV have announced which celebrities will be taking part in the next series of Dancing on Ice.

Returning to ITV in the new year, each week twelve celebrities will skate live with their professional partners as they try to impress both the panel and the viewers who will ultimately decide who wins the show.

Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby once again return to present the show with Torvill and Dean and Ashley Banjo expected to resume their roles as judges following the departure of John Barrowman.

Here are the famous faces confirmed to be taking part in the 2022 series...

Sally Dynevor MBE

Coronation Street legend

Coronation Street’s Sally Dynevor is swapping the cobbles for the ice as the first celebrity skater confirmed to take part in Dancing on Ice 2022.

Joining Lorraine on ITV this morning to exclusively reveal the news, Sally said "Now everyone knows I’m doing it I can’t back out can I?! And I’m so scared!"

Asked if she’s skated before, Sally said "No never! I went with Hattie [her daughter] when she was little and I had a penguin and then thought this is too hard so I’ll go and get a coffee!"

She went on to say "This is a massive challenge, Lorraine. It really, really is. I’m not getting any younger, I’ve just got to take every opportunity I get so that when I’m old I can say you know what? I gave it a go."

Bez

Happy Mondays star

Happy Mondays star Bez is set to step on the ice as the second celebrity confirmed to take part in Dancing On Ice 2022.

Joining Dancing On Ice presenters Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield on This Morning to make the announcement, Bez said "At the moment it’s more like Bambi on Ice, not Dancing On Ice. How I got picked I don’t know because I was absolutely awful at the audition but they must have seen some potential in me!"

"I’m looking forward to learning a new skill and I can’t wait for the Christmas ice rinks again and I can get on there and really show off."

Stef Reid MBE

Team GB Paralympian

Paralympic medalist Stef Reid is the third celebrity confirmed to be taking part in Dancing on Ice 2022.

In an exclusive message on Good Morning Britain, Stef said "I have some really exciting news. I’m going to be picking up a new sport this winter and it comes with a little bit of showbiz. I’m going to be a contestant on Dancing on Ice and it’s a little bit scary but I cannot wait!"

Liberty Poole

Love Island star

Love Island’s Liberty Poole is the fourth celebrity confirmed to be taking part in Dancing on Ice 2022.

On swapping the sun for ice, Liberty said "I grew up watching Dancing On Ice and my mum actually used to be a figure skater. I ice skate as a hobby sometimes so I can get around the rink but I can't do any tricks, no pirouetting or anything so I'm really looking forward to pushing myself and learning as much as I possibly can. Not just skating around the ice but actually dancing on ice. Bring it on!"

Ben Foden

Rugby star

Rugby star Ben Foden is the fifth celebrity confirmed to be taking part in Dancing on Ice 2022.

On taking to the ice, sportsman Ben said "I used to skate a little when I was a kid. I’d go to ice discos when I was 15, 16 (years old) and you’d always see these kids that could do pirouettes that had a proper dancing background."

"I like the idea of learning a new sport and a new skill. I’m quite competitive as well so I like the challenge of competing against others doing something that I’m not necessarily good at!"

Regan Gascoigne

Singer and dancer

Singer and dancer Regan who is the son of legendary footballer Paul Gascoigne, Regan Gascoigne is the sixth celebrity confirmed to be taking part in Dancing on Ice 2022.

He said "Obviously I dance and love dancing but it’s the skill of this. I’ve always wanted to do it. Always! Ever since I was a kid!"

Rachel Stevens

Popstar

Former S Club 7 star, Rachel Stevens is getting her skates on as she becomes the seventh celebrity confirmed to be taking part in Dancing on Ice 2022.

Joining Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby on ITV’s This Morning to exclusively reveal the news, Rachel said "It now feels really real, this is really happening. I’m so excited, obviously really nervous. It's one of those things, until you do it you don’t know what’s going to happen."

On whether she has skated before, Rachel said "Only with the Penguin with my kids you know every Christmas. I did it when I was 10 (years old) and dabbled in it for a little bit and I really loved it but I’m very wobbly."

On why she chose to take part, Rachel said "The opportunity came up and I thought what an amazing opportunity to learn a new skill. I love the whole idea of working with a team and your partner and also for my girls to be a part of this. They are at an age now where they love all the costumes."

Brendan Cole

Professional dancer

Professional dancer and former Strictly Come Dancing professional, Brendan Cole becomes the eighth celebrity confirmed to be taking part in Dancing on Ice 2022.

Appearing on Loose Women today, Brendan said "I’m so, so excited. It’s been a while coming now. I’ve known I’d be doing the show for quite some time and I want to get started, I’m so excited to be on the show."

On his ice-skating experience to date, he said "I’ve had one go. I’m a fairly confident person and I like to think I’m going to be good at what I put my hand to or my feet to!"

"I was thinking okay I’m going to be fine, I’m going to be out there and I was terrible. I was a bit wobbly. You can expect to be a bit wobbly on ice but I was hoping I was going to be better than I was. I’ve got time to learn. I’m just going to embrace the whole experience and I’m very excited to get started."

He went on to say "To be off the stage for such a long time now. I think in March last year I finished my theatre production and all the lockdowns happened. To be back on a big stage - and this is a very big, very cold stage - I cannot tell you how excited I am. It means a lot to us in the entertainment industry to have these opportunities and I’m going to take it with both skates!"

Kye Whyte

Olympian BMX racer

Fresh from making history at the Tokyo Olympics this summer and winning Great Britain’s first-ever BMX Olympic medal, Kye Whyte is now set to take on the ice as the ninth celebrity confirmed to be taking part in Dancing on Ice 2022.

The silver medalist announced the news on CBBC’s Newsround this morning saying "I’m feeling good."

When asked if he’s ever skated he said “I have [rollerskated] when I was younger so we’ll see how it goes."

When he was asked how long he’d kept the secret, he said "Only three or four weeks. I think I was the last person to get selected. I was not told not to tell anyone and I’ve been waiting for the big reveal! My family knows. My dad and my brother roller-skate so I think they’re excited."

"When I did the audition I kind of related it to roller-skating so I think I did pretty well… I think the thing I’m really confident about is I don’t really mind if I fall, I’m quite fearless."

Asked how he felt about picking up his skating partner, Kye said "The picking up and stuff I’m not too worried about. As long as I do my gym properly I should be alright. It’s the routines – I’m very forgetful! So, yeah, that’s what I’m a bit wary of."

Kye went on to say "I think I can win Dancing On Ice. I’d love to see if I can make the final because, as I said, I’m very competitive. You know what? I want to make the final!"

Ria Hebden

TV Presenter

Ria Hebden has revealed live on ITV’s Lorraine that she’s the tenth celebrity confirmed to be taking part in Dancing on Ice 2022.

The presenter of the regular entertainment news slot on the show, Ria, surprised Lorraine by revealing today’s entertainment news was all about her.

She said "It’ll be fun. This is one of ITV’s most sparkly shows so when they asked me I was like absolutely, we watch it at home. It will be brilliant to learn a new scary skill."

She went on to say "You’ve got to say yes to things that excite you, that are a little bit scary because that’s when the growth happens - I’m hoping so anyway! I’m going to go on this journey and hopefully inspire mums, dads and everyone to give things a go."

When Lorraine asked Ria if she’d skated much before, she said "I went when I was 10 years old with my grandma and grandad to – and people in Yorkshire will remember – Bradford Ice Rink. I skated there. If I’m honest the last time I went on the ice was about six years ago with Noah [her son] and I did more drinking of mulled wine than skating!"

Kimberly Wyatt

Pussycat Doll

Swapping the dancefloor for an ice rink, Pussycat Doll’s Kimberly Wyatt is the eleventh celebrity confirmed to be taking to the ice in Dancing On Ice 2022.

Talking exclusively to fellow Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts on Heart Breakfast, Kimberly said "I have signed up for Dancing on Ice! I’m nervous, that ice is going to hit hard. I’m just excited to see what I can do on there. I’m up for a challenge!"

Connor Ball

Popstar

The Vamps' Connor Ball is the twelfth and final celebrity confirmed to be taking to the ice in Dancing On Ice 2022.

Talking exclusively to Roman Kemp, Sian Welby and current Dancing On Ice champion Sonny Jay, Connor said "I’m excited obviously but I’m really nervous. I’m quite clumsy, accident prone. Ice is hard! It was pretty hard to keep the secret. The rest of the band know. They’re super excited for me."
