Debbie's Angels take centre stage in a special episode of Coronation Street
As producer Kate Brooks reveals what's in store for Weatherfield's women!

At a special event in Manchester yesterday, Coronation Street's series producer Kate Brooks revealed what's coming up for some of the women of Weatherfield ahead of a special Debbie's Angels episode airing on Monday 9th November, after which Debbie will make a life-changing decision.
On Monday, the entire episode will focus on Debbie’s Angels as Debbie arranges a get-together for Abi, Bernie, Christina, Sally and Glenda to help with a surprise for Carl.
Debbie empties a plastic crate onto the carpet to reveal hundreds of photographs taken over the years and explains that she needs their help to make a photo book for Carl’s 40th birthday. But what starts as a fun bonding experience quickly descends into chaos as past tensions surface among the women.
Amidst the heated confrontations regarding family history and past trauma, the group struggles to keep the celebration afloat.
While some find solace in confiding in one another about their own personal burdens, others face difficult decisions about their futures. By the end of the evening, the air is cleared, and the women unite to move forward, though several of them are left to navigate significant, life-altering choices in private.
Later on in the week, Debbie reveals that she’s retiring and tells Ronnie that she’s signed the hotel over to him and Ryan, and that she’d like him to become Ronnie’s right-hand man.
On what the future holds for Debbie, Abi, Sally, Christina and Glenda, Coronation Street's series producer Kate Brooks said "We've got some really special stuff coming up with Debbie and, just to reiterate, Sue (Devaney) is incredible. Every single episode I see, I am just completely blown away."
"We do have a really special episode coming up over the Christmas period, a POV (point of view) episode, which I viewed yesterday, and it's insanely good and powerful and (Sue's) performance is like you've never seen before. We see what she sees, but we don't see her."
"As Debbie's dementia starts a slight decline, we will get to the really pivotal parts of it as the family rally around. Her friends as well. They'll become really key ingredients in to rallying around her and making sure that she's okay and she's supported."
"There'll still be laughs! There'll still be fun along the way, but we are getting to the stage now where it's getting a bit more serious."
Moving on to what's in store for Abi Franklin next, Kate added "We're going to see a bit of the old Abi cropping up, which is fine... well, it's not fine, it's a bit of a curveball! The old Abi does reemerge over the Christmas period, but again, seeing the different place she's in now, it's whether her family and friends are able to make sure that she gets back on the right track."
"So it's going to be a bit of a bumpy ride, there's a few curveballs, but her friendship with Debbie as well, is very key and important, and there's big stuff coming up in the spring, which really puts them at the heart of it."
With the Lucy storyline already well underway on screen, Kate Brooks revealed that for Sally Metcalfe "The Lucy storyline continues to tie in Christina and Sally together. What I love about that friendship and that dynamic is that you're never quite sure where it's going to land, and whether they've going to end up exploding or whether they're going to be hugging and telling each other how wonderful they are. And I love that unpredictability about it."
"In terms of the Lucy story, that does reach a big climax soon, and it puts Christina and Sally very much, again, at the heart of it."
And she also teased a lot more to come for Christina Boyd outside of the storyline, adding "I love Christina and George. That relationship is just dynamite. So we'll definitely be seeing more of that. More of the Shuttleworths as a family, uniting. Especially as Christina is Glenda's sister-in-law."
"So exploring that dynamic between them, but this is the tip of the iceberg for them. There's definitely more twists and turns to come!"
And finally, what the future holds for Glenda Shuttleworth, Kate said "We have got a big storyline coming up for Glenda in the new year, which will really unpack Glenda as a character because obviously she is a fabulous character and very Elsie Tanner."
"So there is a big storyline coming up which will hit screens March time. There will be a love interest coming up as well, so there may be love on the horizon and a happy ever after. Because I think Glenda is in need of some happiness."
"But it's a big story and it's not just completely pertained to a love story. Fantastic stuff coming up, Jodie is incredible so she'll be amazing!"
Before adding that there's "lots of stuff for each of these women, but the key thing that doesn't change is theior friendship."
