Faye Marsay leads ITV1's new police thriller Code Zero

The most urgent call an officer can make. And this is only the beginning.

ITV1 has announced a gripping new police thriller, Code Zero, about a heist gone wrong and the lengths one officer will go to uncover the truth.

Written and created by James Hall, Code Zero is his first original drama for television and stars Faye Marsay as Police Sergeant Laura Collier, who is pragmatic, funny and no-nonsense, the kind of officer you’d want to turn up if you dialled 999.

Laura is assigned fresh-faced new recruit Cal, played by Sekou Diaby, to take under her wing on his first day, a day which quickly takes a dark turn as they’re ensnared in a meticulously crafted bank heist.

As Laura and her team are pulled into a fast-paced cat-and-mouse investigation, the consequences of the heist begin to impact her life in ways she never could have imagined.

A ‘Code Zero’ is the most urgent call an officer can make, signalling that they are in immediate danger and need emergency assistance. The series hinges on a Code Zero called in episode one, setting in motion a race against time that will have profound consequences for every officer who answers it.

Starring alongside Faye Marsay will be Sion Daniel Young as Darrell Haiton, Brendan Coyle as Phil Baynes, Rachel Shenton as Gemma Chapman, Aneurin Barnard as Ferdie Kestevan, Anthony Welsh as Ed Collier, Steven Cree as Doyle, Libby Mai as Twitch, Adam Fidusiewicz as Ivan, Pooky Quesnel as Leanne Baynes, Kerim Hassan as Charlie Briggs, Christine Adams as Commander Harker, Vikash Bhai as DI Anderson, Kevin Eldon as Terry Underwood, Martin Trenaman as Roy Prescott, Steven Meo as Simon Peters and Lorraine Burroughs as Trisha Walters.

Writer and creators James Hall is known for his work on the successful long running detective drama, Death in Paradise, initially as a script and story producer and more recently as lead writer and executive producer. James’s other credits as a writer, producer and script editor include Holby City, EastEnders, Emmerdale and The Bill.

Made by Two Brothers Pictures in association with All3Media International, Code Zero is written and created by James Hall, directed by Ashley Way and Claire Winyard, produced by Nikki Wilson, with Cleo Hetherington as associate producer, Stuart Biddlecombe as director of photography and Aisha Bywaters as casting director.

It will be executive produced by Jack and Harry Williams, Sarah Hammond, Daisy Mount and Alex Mercer on behalf of Two Brothers Pictures, James Hall and Ashley Way.

Filming for Code Zero is taking place in Cardiff and South Wales, and the drama will be produced in association with Creative Wales.The drama has been supported by the Welsh Government via Creative Wales.
