Edward Bluemel stars in the titular role of Hercule Poirot.



BBC One has released a first look at Hercule, which stars Edward Bluemel in the titular role of Hercule Poirot in the six-part series, which centres on three of Christie’s early stories.


The series, which has commenced filming in Liverpool, is an intimate study of Hercule Poirot the man and an epic portrait of Britain between the wars. Hercule will centre on three of Christie’s early stories, while also introducing Hercule Poirot to future friends and allies, and to one particular nemesis.


Starring alongside Bluemel will be Henry Ashton, James D'Arcy, Calvin Demba, Phil Dunning, Jack Gleeson, Tamsin Greig, James Nesbitt, Guy Remmers, Rebecca Rittenhouseand Mawaan Rizwan.


Widely regarded as one of the greatest detectives in fiction, Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot novels have sold over 750 million copies, captivating readers and audiences for more than a century.


Made by Mammoth Screen, a part of ITV Studios, and Agatha Christie Limited, Hercule is written by Benji Walters, with the first two episodes directed by Jonny Campbell, with Chanya Button and Alrick Riley directing the middle two episodes and final two episodes, respectively.


Hercule is produced by Charlie Palmer and executive produced by Benji Walters and Jonny Campbell, James Prichard for Agatha Christie Limited, Rebecca Durbin and Damien Timmer for Mammoth Screen, Nick Lambon for the BBC, and Robert Schildhouse, Jon Farrar, and Stephen Nye for BritBox.
