Who is Alice Bell?

Channel 4 has released a first look at its new psychological thriller, Hunting Alice Bell, created by David Baddiel with Peter Bradshaw.

Airing this autumn, the six-part drama, Hunting Alice Bell, is a psychological thriller built around a whodunnit, with shades of family drama and social satire.

It tells a story for our times: about misogyny, justice, the psychosis of the mob, and about how rumours spread and the devastating effects they cause. All within a story stuffed with cliffhangers, hunting the answer to one big question: who is Alice Bell?

It follows Alice Bell, a former nurse, and also the lover and accomplice of a notorious anaesthetist serial killer. She is presently living in Britain under a new identity.

When, online, Fran Da Silva, played by Alex Roach, is accused of being Alice Bell, her happy family life implodes in a wave of mob hate. Then she discovers she’s not the only woman to suffer this fate.

Fran and the other accused women band together to fight back and clear their names. But as they battle to prove their innocence, what if one of the group is lying and is the real Alice Bell?

Starring alongside Alex Roach are Amanda Abbington as Julie, Emily Barber as Vanessa, Toni O’Rourke as Ros, Christina Bennington as Charlotte, Rudi Dharmalingam as Nick, with Ralf Little as Graham Hunter and Simon Pegg as Dr Jason Nash.

Made by Clapperboard Studios in association with Sphere Abacus, Hunting Alice Bell is created by David Baddiel with Peter Bradshaw and co-written by Baddiel and Bradshaw alongside Polly Buckle and Kate Verghese.

Hunting Alice Bell is directed by Paul Walker, produced by Tamryn Reinecke, and executive produced by Mike Benson and Rachel Gesua for Clapperboard Studios, David Baddiel, Peter Bradshaw, Polly Buckle, Jonathan Ford and Will Stapley.

Hunting Alice Bell will air this autumn on Channel 4
