FIRST LOOK Sherwood 2

BBC One has released several first look images from the second series of their hit drama Sherwood.

James Graham's powerful and resonant depiction of community and modern-day Britain, Sherwood, was a ratings hit when it aired in June 2022 and it's soon returning to BBC One with an all-star line-up of new and returning cast members.

Filmed in and around Nottingham, the second series of Sherwood will further explore the powerful themes that made the first so resonant to audiences across the UK.

Set in the present day it introduces two new families that find themselves entangled with the Sparrows, entering a complex web of local gangs, old rivalries, revenge, and betrayal.

Meanwhile, a newly appointed Sheriff of Nottingham is passionately fighting against a proposed new mine for the area, which brings the promise of much needed jobs and prosperity but also unwelcome reminders of the legacy that has mired the community for so long.

The stellar cast includes David Morrissey, Lesley Manville, Monica Dolan, David Harewood, Lorraine Ashbourne, Robert Lindsay, Stephen Dillane, Sharlene Whyte, Perry Fitzpatrick, Christine Bottomley, Philip Jackson, Aisling Loftus, Bill Jones, Adam Hugill, Ria Zmitrowicz, Robert Emms, Michael Balogun, Oliver Huntingdon, Jorden Myrie, Conor Deane and Bethany Asher.

Produced by House Productions and Kate Ogborn, Sherwood will be directed by Clio Barnard and Tom George and all six episodes have been written by James Graham who will executive produce the series alongside Juliette Howell, Tessa Ross and Harriet Spencer for House Productions and Jo McClellan for the BBC.
