FIRST LOOK Vigil 3

Suranne Jones and Rose Leslie are back!

As filming wraps in Svalbard and Scotland, BBC One has released a first look at the third series of Vigil, which will air later this year.

Suranne Jones and Rose Leslie return as DCI Amy Silva and DI Kirsten Longacre for a new case that takes them to a remote Arctic research station, where a member of a covert British special forces mission has been shot dead.

Amy and Kirsten will need to catch the killer and defuse a potential international confrontation, driven by a land grab for energy and resources amid a changing polar climate, with both their careers and relationship on the line.

The new pictures offer a first look at Amy and Kirsten's mission in the Arctic, and include returning cast Gary Lewis as DS Robertson and Dominic Mafham as Sir Ian Downing, as well as some of the show’s new cast, including Jeppe Beck Laursen, Steven Miller, Naomi Yang, Benjamin Wainwright, Tornike Gogrichiani and Danusia Samal.

Further new cast include Artur Zai Barrera, Jordan Duvigneau, Kaisa Hammarlund, Adam Fidusiewicz, Eric Godon, Conor Berry, Amy Manson, Jason Tobin, Steven Cree, Killian Coyle, Derek Riddell, Alma Prelec, Dawn Sievewright and Shereen Cutkelvin.

Made by World Productions in association with ITV Studios, Vigil is written and created by Tom Edge with additional writers for series three, Tom Mair and Eve Hedderwick Turner.

The new series is directed by Gareth Byrn and Faye Gilbert, produced by Marcus Wilson with George Aza-Selinger as associate producer and is executive produced by Jake Lushington for World Productions, Gaynor Holmes and Stephanie Fyfe for the BBC, and Tom Edge.

Vigil returns later this year on BBC One
