George finally unlocks the truth about his childhood and Eddie’s racism in EastEnders

When he finds out what really happened, can George forgive?

FOR WEEK COMMENCING 12TH FEBRUARY

After George nervously prepares to go to his parents’ home for the first time in years for Eddie’s award celebration, he, Elaine, and the girls arrive. George is stunned by Eddie’s apparent pride in him and the way he’s treated like a returning hero by his dad’s mates.

As the night goes on, Eddie shocks George further by making a heartfelt speech about him and he confides in Elaine that he might have misread Eddie’s behaviour and that maybe his dad did always love him.

As the party winds down, one of Eddie's friends, Gerald, accidentally lets slip to George that the jury is going to love him. Confused, George presses him and Gerald explains that Eddie is facing trial for the racially motivated murder and needs George to be his character witness.

Leaving, George is devastated to realise he’s being manipulated by Eddie.

The following morning, it's Gina's birthday, and whilst George tries to focus on his daughter, Eddie and Gloria arrive and he tells them he knows about the court case and wants them to leave.

Desperate, Gloria implores George to help, but he dismisses them and heads out for Gina's lunch.

During a heart-to-heart with Gina, George talks about his childhood and tries to excuse Eddie’s words and deeds, which angers her.

After finding the courage to look up his father’s court case, George rings Eddie and tells him they need to talk.

When Gloria and Eddie arrive at The Vic, George insists on talking alone with his dad and during a painful confrontation, he finally unlocks the truth about his childhood, Eddie’s racism and what really happened.

Meanwhile, Gloria tries to explain herself to Elaine and begs her to help convince George to testify on Eddie’s behalf.

Following the previous night's revelations, George is in turmoil and during a training session with Denzel, he goes too far and loses it with him and leaves Elaine horrified. And George is plunged into self-hatred at being just like Eddie.

Later, Elaine reluctantly accompanies Gloria to see George at the Boxing Den, where she implores George to give her five minutes to explain herself. Against Elaine’s wishes, George agrees.
