Anxiously checking his phone, Ian snaps at Anna when she tries to talk to him about Bobby’s 21st birthday. And when Anna gets Freddie to help sound Bobby out on ideas, he rumbles them and tells them he doesn’t want a fuss.
When Peter tries to talk to Bobby about his birthday, he explains how he's in no mood to celebrate. And when Peter finds Ian acting weirdly about Bobby's birthday and lying about where he'll be the following day, he's suspicious.
As Cindy and Peter try to get to the bottom of Ian’s deceit, he tells them he’s thinking of running for the council again. But as he heads off to his council meeting, Peter remains suspicious.
And Cindy isn’t happy when Ian says he’s attending a leadership course in Manchester, but she can’t go with him.
Later, Peter reveals that he checked with the council so knows Ian is lying and demands to know what’s really going on.
