But can John Paul forgive? And how does Carter know him?
At the McQueens’, John Paul’s uplift in mood is questioned by the family after a couple of therapy sessions with Carter and Goldie is still not as sold on Carter’s intentions as the rest of the family.
John Paul’s mood quickly turns when he finds out a Hollyoaks’ High sixth former was attacked the previous night and scolds himself for not reporting his own attacker. As Carter quickly diffuses the situation, he helps him open up further about his past.
Rejecting his help, John Paul later finds himself at The Loft, face-to-face with his attacker.
The next day, John Paul opens up to his family about his secret visit to The Loft the previous night, revealing that he saw his attacker meet up with Carter. Goldie's response is to get some answers by interrupting a conversation between him and a distressed Gareth.
When Carter reveals that he knew the attacker from his church, he suggests that John Paul’s forgiveness would help as he believes he's troubled.
At the McQueens, Goldie fails to break through to John Paul and instead confronts Carter. In retaliation, he tells John Paul not to attend the sessions anymore.
As Goldie continues her pursuit to get through to John Paul, Sally insists she let it go for John Paul’s sake.
