Kerry Godliman and Nina Singh to lead ITV1's new reimagining of Dalziel and Pascoe

The series will begin filming this spring in the North of England.

ITV has confirmed that they are bringing back Dalziel and Pascoe for a fresh and contemporary reimagining of the beloved British detective series, based on the books by Reginald Hill, with Kerry Godliman and Nina Singh in the lead roles.

The series centres on the relationship between seasoned Detective Inspector Andrea Dalziel, played by Kerry Godliman, and the newly qualified, by-the-book perfectionist Detective Sergeant Paige Pascoe, played by Nina Singh.

Despite their clashing methods, Dalziel and Pascoe work together to form a formidable partnership that is underscored by humour, heart and humanity.

On joining Dalziel and Pascoe, Kerry Godliman said "I'm so chuffed to be playing the assertively charming Detective Inspector Andrea Dalziel.  It's a juicy role as she's such an interesting personality - accomplished at her job, warm, but also direct to the point of being abrasive. Weary and warm hearted. Lots to get my teeth into! I'm looking forward to working with the team at West Road Pictures, ITV and BritBox as we reimagine Dalziel and Pascoe to a new audience."

To which Nina Singh added "It’s an absolute honour to be playing Pascoe to Kerry Godliman’s Dalziel. I find Kerry hilarious, so I know at times I’ll struggle not to be laughing. Colette Kane and the writing team have incorporated humour so well into the scripts at the same time as keeping you constantly guessing what’ll happen next – in true Dalziel and Pascoe form."

The original series ran for 12 series on BBC One, from 1996 to 2007, with Warren Clarke as Detective Superintendent Andy Dalziel and Colin Buchanan as Detective Inspector Peter Pascoe.

Dalziel and Pascoe will be produced by All3Media’s West Road Pictures and has been co-created for television by Colette Kane and Daisy Martey, with other writers on the series including new writing duo Chris Ryden and Jon Rowe, and Danusia Samal.

The 6-part series will be directed by Isher Sahota and produced by Juliet Charlesworth, with Jonathan Fisher, Ellie Birnie, and Ingrid Goodwin as executive producers for West Road Pictures and Colette Kane will act as lead writer and Executive Producer.
