Lauren is arrested for attempted murder as Cindy is released from hospital in EastEnders

But with George on the edge, is Anna right to be worried?

 11-17 JANUARY

With Cindy now awake and wanting answers about what’s happened to her, she gets emotional when Peter deflects her questions about the family.

Heading back to Walford, Anna lets George and the Knights know that Cindy is awake, whilst at the hospital, DCI Arthurs interviews Cindy, who is horrified to learn that she was probably attacked by someone who knows her.

Later, Peter and Lauren arrive to visit Cindy, who is hostile towards Lauren and the police arrive at The Vic to arrest Lauren for attempted murder. At the station, she's quizzed about the night of the attack in the light of Cindy’s recollections.

Realising that Lauren has been arrested on the strength of Cindy’s statement, Peter demands that she retract it and is shocked when Lauren confides in him about what happened on Christmas Day.

As the fall out of Lauren's revelation drives a wedge between them, Peter heads to the hospital to see Cindy. And when the doctors tell her she'll be promises to find Cindy a place to stay.

After failing to get Ian to let Cindy stay at his place, Peter tricks a reluctant Reiss into giving his mum the spare room. However, it's not long before Peter’s woes get worse.

Arriving back in Albert Square, Cindy faces hostility from the people she’s wronged, especially Ian, and she struggles to adapt to sharing a house with Reiss.

Meanwhile, Peter struggles as he tries to support both Lauren and Cindy and at The Vic, George is on edge as Anna privately voices her fears to Gina.
