Lee and Nancy Carter returning to EastEnders ahead of Linda's exit

Danny Hatchard and Maddy Hill will both return this autumn.

EastEnders has confirmed that Linda Carter is in for a shock later this year when Nancy and Lee Carter return to Walford, with Maddy Hill and Danny Hatchard reprising their roles.

The family has weathered plenty in their absence, so their upcoming reunion may not be entirely smooth. While the reason for their return is yet to be revealed, stepping back into the Carter fold is rarely without complications.

On her return, Maddy Hill said "I am SO excited to be returning to Enders for a short stint and stepping back into Nancy’s shoes (or basketball shorts!). I’ve missed her! I’m especially looking forward to seeing lots of familiar faces and acting alongside my incredible on-screen family."

To which Danny Hatchard added "I’m absolutely over the moon to be returning to EastEnders as Lee Carter. Albert Square has always felt like a home away from home, so I’m proper buzzing to be back grafting with the Enders family."

And Executive Producer, Ben Wadey said "We are absolutely thrilled to have Maddy and Danny back in Walford, bringing two much-loved pieces of the Carter family back together. And whilst Linda is delighted to have her children all together again, she’s got a lot to catch up on…"

Despite making a brief one-off appearance on 16 December 2024, Lee left Walford at the end of 2020, and Nancy departed in June 2022, both leaving to start new lives away from the Square.

Maddy and Danny have already started filming and their first scenes are set to air later this year.
