Finding Leela all dressed up and waiting outside the flat, Donna-Marie knows there must be a man on the scene. Not wanting to lie to her best friend, Leela fesses up about her and Joel deciding to be exclusive. But just as she gets excited about the future, Leela receives a message from Joel saying he must cancel.
Bumping into Maxine, Leela mentions how Joel stood her up and Maxine is forced to admit that it was her fault as she’d asked him to go for a drink with struggling Sam. And Leela goes down to the pub to find him.
When Joel helps Leela with her training in preparation for reapplying for the fire service, she tells him he should train and apply with her. During their session together in the park, Joel goes weary but pushes it off and carries on.
