Matthew James-Bailey joining EastEnders as DC Craig Ingram

And he'll be part of a major new storyline.

EastEnders has announced that Matthew James-Bailey has joined the cast as new character DC Craig Ingram.

Arriving in Walford this summer, Craig is introduced as part of a major new storyline that will unfold over the coming months.

Craig is a younger colleague of Jack’s, brought in to take over his workload when Jack’s boss begins to suspect he is struggling to balance the demands of work with Denise’s ongoing cancer treatment, but is quickly working on a case close to Albert Square.

On joining the cast of EastEnders, Matthew said “Joining EastEnders has been a dream come true. From it being the soundtrack to my childhood, always on in the background at home, to gathering around the TV with my family every Christmas, being able to play even a small part in such an iconic piece of British television is truly surreal.”

To which executive producer Ben Wadey added “We’re delighted to welcome Matthew to EastEnders, and he has been a fantastic addition to the cast. Craig’s presence in Walford forms part of a storyline involving the Brannings that will unfold this summer.”
