When Maxine and Carter bump into Leah and Lucas in the village, Maxine invites them round until they can track Ste down.
But as Maxine plans a romantic night with Carter, things don’t go to plan when he pulls away from it. Maxine vocalises her concerns over them only ever being intimate once after months of being together.
After overhearing a conversation between her dad and Maxine, Freya gives her dad some advice at school which is overheard by John Paul.
With Sally struggling with back pain, Maxine overhears John Paul telling her and Carter that her relationship is a joke. But when Sally reminds her son he should be grateful for his job, he agrees to apologise to Carter for being rude.
When John Paul questions Carter on his relationship with Maxine, chemistry between the two men grows, until a scream outside stops them in their tracks.
With Declan keen to continue his and Carter’s sessions with Lucas, Sharon tells Sally that she should talk to John Paul about what they’ve discussed in a conversation we haven’t seen. But she brushes it off and tells her son there’s nothing to worry about.
When Carter tells John Paul that he should be with Sally instead of working, he accompanies him to the hospital and John Paul discusses his concerns over his relationship with Maxine.
Meanwhile, Sally tells them both that she'll get her scan results in a few weeks, leaving Sharon looking troubled.
