Monty’s fight for survival tears Cain and Kyle apart in Emmerdale

What will Monty’s diagnosis mean for Cain?

Kim and Joe are shocked to find Kyle desperate for confirmation that Joe was responsible for his mum’s death. As Kim and Joe try to reason with Kyle, Graham arrives. Not knowing which way to turn, Kyle heads off.

Wondering why Kyle seems so shaken, Cain and Moira arrive at Home Farm, all guns blazing, with Cain warning Graham and the rest of Tate’s to stay away from Kyle. Once he’s gone, Joe urges Graham to decide whose side he’s on.

The next day, Cain loses his rag with Kyle before storming out, and Moira berates Cain for taking his anger out on Kyle.

However, Cain is distracted by something out of the window and rushes outside, before springing into action when he sees that Kyle has set a shed on fire and Monty is trapped inside!

Desperately kicking down the door, Cain eventually staggers out of the shed with Monty in his arms.

As everyone reels, Cain rushes to get to the vets, leaving Kyle riddled with guilt, and Paddy tells Cain to warn the family to prepare for the worst. Unable to stay calm, Cain expresses his anger at Kyle.

The next day, Paddy arrives to tell the family that Monty has cancer.

Collecting Monty from the vets, Cain takes him off on a walk to decide what to do, realising the irony in how much he wants to help Monty, but won’t help himself in the same scenario. And he's left pondering his words.
