Is Vinny heading for heartbreak?

 28 MARCH - 3 APRIL

As Penny and Vinny prepare for their first baby scan, a call from a potential business backer for Penny’s shop leaves Vinny unsettled.

Determined to secure funding, he agrees to meet the mysterious investor, assuring Penny that he will join her later. Overhearing Vinny, Priya warns him against getting involved with dubious individuals.

Penny begins the scan alone and learns the baby is further along than expected, but chooses not to share this with Vinny once he arrives.

Later, Vinny decides to seek funding through safer means, causing an emotional Penny to confide in Lauren and Oscar that if the baby was conceived before New Year’s, then it cannot be Vinny’s and might be Harry’s!

Despite initially avoiding the discussion, Penny eventually admits to Lauren and Oscar that she slept with Harry the day he entered detox, but believes the scan results must be incorrect.

A tense disagreement between Penny and Suki over Vinny’s endeavours to find funding for their business ends with Nicola stepping in to support Penny, who takes her to Harry’s barn to calm down.

Hoping to secure their future, Vinny surprises Penny with a lease for premises, complete with the deposit and six months’ rent paid.

Following discussions at the hospital, Harry confides in Nicola that Gina does not want children and reveals that he and Penny were intimate once last year.

Armed with this knowledge and now suspicious of Penny’s recent behaviour and things she said earlier that day, Nicola confronts Penny and insists she take a DNA test otherwise she will tell Vinny and Harry.

Ahead of the Knight Fusion launch, Nicola’s attention is on Penny, whom she demands do the DNA test today, or she will tell everyone.

Distraught, Penny seeks out advice from Lauren and Oscar and then confronts Nicola. After a heated discussion, Penny leaves.

EastEnders continues Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One with first look episodes available from 6am on BBC iPlayer
