Could Carla be about to end things with Peter?
When Lucas calls at Underworld to do business, Sarah is pleased, but Carla tries to mask her discomfort.
After telling Peter she has to go to Harrogate to meet someone from Lucas’ firm, Lucas returns to the factory he insists his intentions are honourable.
As Carla and Lucas go over her sales strategy, neither of them notice Peter approaching with a bunch of flowers.
Overhearing their conversation, Peter heads out deeply upset and when Carla calls at No.1 for her overnight bag, she finds Peter wallowing in self-pity.
Crucially, Carla doesn't know why and is bewildered to see him so down.
Jenny persuades Carla to join her for a glass of wine and send Sarah to the business meeting in Harrogate in her place. But when a tipsy Carla receives a call from Peter, she declines it and sends him a text making out she’s in Harrogate as planned.
Calling at No.1 to keep watch over Peter, Adam reveals that Carla ducked out of the Harrogate trip and sent Sarah instead. Realising he's been lied to, Peter calls Carla again.
Suspecting that Carla spent the night with her old flame Lucas, Peter confides in Steve and later accuses Carla of spending the night with Lucas. Assuring Peter that she loves him, Carla wonders if it's being with her that drives him to drink.
But when Lucas tells Carla that she'll be seeing a lot more of him as Sarah gave a great sales pitch, she paints on a smile.
