With Izuka Hoyle back as Amber Todd.

Sky Atlantic has confirmed that their high-stakes chase thriller, Prisoner, created and written by Matt Charman, will return for a six-part second series. With Izuka Hoyle reprising her role as prison transport officer Amber Todd, and production is set to begin later this year.

Series one saw Amber tasked with escorting Tibor, played by Tahar Rahim, a trained killer and high-value inmate, to court to testify against his elite crime syndicate. When their convoy is brutally ambushed, they are left handcuffed together and on the run, forcing her to put her life in his hands.

Series two will expand the tense, morally complex world of Prisoner, with Amber back in uniform, but not back to normal. Still carrying the scars of past events, and struggling to hold her family together, she is tasked with escorting a polarising US academic–turned–notorious killer, for extradition, a woman whose case has divided opinion.

When there is an attempted execution from within law enforcement, Amber is framed for murder, challenging everything she stands for.

Made by Binocular in association with Sky Studios, the new series of Prisoner will be written by showrunner Matt Charman, and he'll be joined by Sophie Petzal as writer and it'll be executive produced by Matt Charman, Foz Allan, Sophie Petzal and Adrian Sturges for Sky Studios.
