Stephen Mangan to host new ITV1 reality series The Fortune Hotel

The eight-part series will see 10 pairs of contestants check-in at The Fortune Hotel before battling it out for the show's £250,000 jackpot.

Announced today at the Edinburgh Television Festival, ITV1's new high-octane eight-part reality series, The Fortune Hotel, will be fronted by Stephen Mangan and invite viewers into a luxury Caribbean resort filled with glamour, opulence and deception.

10 pairs of contestants will arrive at The Fortune Hotel, where they will be given an all-important briefcase. Inside one case is the ultimate jackpot of £250,000 in cash, eight are empty, and one contains the dreaded Early Checkout Card – whichever pair is left holding that case at the end of each show will see their stay brought to a dramatic, premature end.

Every day the contestants have the chance to try to uncover who has which case through playing compelling challenges, and as the “Whogotit” mystery ramps up for the hotel guests, viewers at home will remain deliciously in-the-know throughout, witness to all of their plans and strategies playing out.

The climax of each episode is the nerve-shredding case swap in the seductive Lady Luck bar where each pair must decide whether to keep or swap their case. Have the couple with the life-changing sum of cash managed to bluff and blag their way free of suspicion? Or will their case be ruthlessly taken off them? And who will be left holding the case containing the Early Checkout Card?

Speaking ahead of the series, Stephen Mangan said "This show has it all and I can’t wait to take up my post as the devilishly polite but mischievous manager of The Fortune Hotel. But be warned, once you’ve checked in, nothing is as it seems…"

To which ITV's Director of Reality Commissioning, Paul Mortimer, added "I am so excited for our viewers to get to experience this reality TV event set in the glamorous but drama-filled world of The Fortune Hotel. Our hotel guests (and players) will reflect a cross-section of the audience."

"With an eye on the prize, alliances amongst them will be made, tested and dramatically broken as they all battle to secure the elusive top prize. Stephen is the perfect host to welcome and smoothly guide both contestants and viewers from check in to check out."

Produced by Tuesday's Child, The Fortune Hotel will see Ben Wilson as Series Editor for Tuesday’s Child with Steph Harris as Executive Producer.

And Ben Wilson said "When The Fortune Hotel opens for business get ready for sun, sand and secrets. This is the ultimate party game made real. I can’t wait to see pairs of guests working together to outwit and outmanoeuvre their fellow holidaymakers. Let the scheming and case swapping commence!"

The Fortune Hotel will air in 2024 on ITV1
