Stephen's crimes are FINALLY revealed in Corrie

But as the net closes in on Stephen, will he get caught?

Stephen Reid's reign of terror reaches a dramatic climax on the cobbles this month (9th, 11th and 13th October) in the nail-biting final chapter of this thrilling storyline.

Whether he escapes justice or finally pays for his crimes, one thing is for sure actor Todd Boyce is finally bidding farewell to Stephen and Coronation Street, leaving shock and devastation in his wake.

As a new day dawns in Weatherfield, Stephen is planning his escape from the cobbles and the trail of dead bodies, unaware that the residents of Coronation Street are putting together the pieces of a rather shocking jigsaw puzzle, one that could leave him seeing out his days behind bars, not running one on a beach.

Slowly, Stephen realises that his time might be up and with nothing to lose, is determined to make a final bid for freedom and will stop anyone who gets in his way!

Frustrated, Carla is convinced Stephen dosed her up on LSD but without evidence, the police can’t prove it. However, when she finds a printout of one-way tickets to Thailand in the office printer she convinces DS Swain that Stephen is a flight risk.

Ignoring Swain’s insistence that she tell no one, Carla explains to Jenny that the police are investigating Stephen and implores her not to go to Thailand with him, as she could be running off with a murderer.

Meanwhile, Tim is distracted from Sally’s plans for their wedding anniversary when a passing mention from Brian of Stephen’s interest in the canal dredging project gets the cogs whirring.

On the canal towpath, Tim finds a discarded boat hook and starts poking about in the water

when a corpse’s hand floats to the surface.

Fleeing back to his cab, Tim dials 999 and reports finding a dead body. But the phone cuts out and before he can call back and Tim’s aghast when Stephen climbs into the back seat of the cab!

As Stephen tries to strangle him with a tie, Tim makes a bid for freedom but trips on his shoelace and as he clambers to his feet, is knocked unconscious by Stephen.

Furious, Sally assumes that Tim has gone to the county match with Kevin, when in reality her husband is fighting for his life in the boot of his car which is being doused in petrol. Has Stephen killed again?

Arriving back on the cobbles, a seemingly calm and collected Stephen smoothly bypasses Jenny and heads straight for a shower to wash away all traces of blood and fuel before calling the airline to confirm his flight for tomorrow.

Meanwhile, as police lift the roof box from the murky waters of the canal, Craig and Swain shudder to see it contains human remains.

When Kevin tells her that Tim did not go to the match with him and Kirk, Sally starts to panic.

At the factory, a calm and collected Stephen tricks an oblivious Michael into enabling him to transfer the full balance of Underworld’s account into a bogus one he has set up.

And Carla is shocked when she gets a notification of the transfer.

As Sarah breaks the news of Stephen defrauding Audrey and drugging Carla, the Platt family are stunned and when Stephen leaves his flat he is attacked by Peter.

However, when Audrey arrives, she sends Peter packing and Stephen’s relief turns to horror when Audrey accuses him of stealing her house. How will Stephen respond?

Learning that Stephen has brought forward his flight from Manchester to Bangkok to today, DS Swain hurries to the airport to intercept him. But will she get there in time?

And when Elaine reports that the Platts believe Stephen murdered anyone who got in his way, Sally feels sick as she realises that one of those people was Tim!

On Friday, as the shocked residents realise that they have a murderer in their midst, the hunt is on to find Stephen before he can add to his death toll. Or are they too late?

With the walls closing in on Stephen, will he escape to foreign climes? Or does he have unfinished business which will see him make one final mistake? Will Weatherfield CID finally get their man?

Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1
