The Bay to return for a second series on ITV

With Morven Christie and Daniel Ryan both reprising their roles as DS Lisa Armstrong and DI Tony Manning.

Set in the coastal town of Morecambe, the first series of The Bay followed the case of two missing teenage twins, Holly and Dylan Meredith, who disappeared from their home.

Written by Daragh Carville, it saw Detective Sergeant Lisa Armstrong, assigned to a missing persons investigation, further complicated by her less than professional connection to the family.

Over six weeks the series built to a gripping series finale and each episode was watched by an average consolidated audience of 7 million per episode.

Speaking about the new series, ITV’s Head of Drama, Polly Hill said “I am delighted with the audience response to The Bay. It’s very real and beautifully made by everyone involved [...] I think that audience will enjoy seeing where Daragh takes Lisa and the team, when they return with a new case for series 2 next year.”

Whilst Executive Producer Catherine Oldfield added “We are so thrilled that The Bay found such a large audience and that the fantastic world and characters brought to life by Daragh Carville will be returning to ITV. It was an incredible production, shot in a beautiful location and thanks to ITV’s belief in the story we wanted to tell, we get to do it all over again.”

The second series will begin filming later this year with further casting news to be announced closer to production.
