The Vic reopens its doors in time to celebrate V.E. Day in EastEnders

But is Linda ready to open up again?

 3-9 MAY

On Thursday 8th May, EastEnders will air a special episode marking 80 years since V.E. Day as the residents of Walford come together to honour and remember those who gave their lives during the war.

The episode will feature poignant nods to wartime Britain including historical footage and music associated with World War II and the celebrations that took place across the capital on 8th May 1945.

Wanting to mark the moment, Phil and Jean convince Linda to coincide the re-opening of The Vic with the 80th anniversary of V.E. Day as the residents of Walford come together to honour and remember those who gave their lives during the war.

On Wednesday, warmed by the community spirit as everyone waits for news on Lauren's baby, Linda and George announce that The Vic is reopening tomorrow for V.E Day, but their news falls flat with the majority, including Mo and Zack who can’t face it so soon after Martin’s death.

Later, Alfie tries to buoy Linda as she grows concerned for Elaine following the Square’s reaction.

With the symptoms of his dementia taking hold, Nigel believes that it’s 1995 and a party is planned to mark the 50th anniversary of V.E. Day in The Vic.

At No.55, Jean and Phil prepare to talk to Nigel, but Jean bottles it and enlists Phil’s help to organise a last-minute party. Jean convinces Mo to celebrate, but Linda remains firm that The Vic is closed.

Soon, Linda relents when she spies the market traders abuzz with V.E. Day spirit, and the residents of Walford congregate to celebrate those previously fallen, including their very own, Martin, as The Vic reopens its doors once again.

EastEnders continues Mondays to Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One with first look episodes available from 6am on BBC iPlayer
