3. Elton John: Uncensored

Thursday 28th November at 9pm on BBC One

In this world exclusive, Sir Elton John sits down with Graham Norton to look back on his extraordinary life and career which spans over 50 years.

This exclusive 60-minute film, shot at his home in the South of France while on a break from his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, sees Elton share many candid, personal and laugh-out-loud stories, as the pair revisit Elton’s classic archive performances, interviews and accolades.

The revealing film also features previously unseen footage from the 1970s of Elton performing Rocket Man on Top Of The Pops.

Elton tells Graham about his childhood growing up in Pinner as Reg Dwight, and reflects on his rise to global super stardom in the 1970s. He also shares musical memories from the 80s and 90s and describes the highs and lows which superstardom brought him.

Elton talks about the important friendships in his life, including how he and Rod Stewart have been laughing with each other (as well as at each other) for over 40 years. Speaking openly about the battles with addiction and his recent battle with prostate cancer, Elton also talks about the positive effect that fatherhood has had on his life and how he’d like to spend his time in the future, both on and off the stage.

4. Upright

Thursday 28th November at 10pm and 10.35pm on Sky Atlantic

Tim Minchin stars in this new comedy drama about family outcast Lucky Flynn who learns that his mother is dying and decides to drive to the other side of Australia to see her, packing nothing but an upright piano for the journey.

But his plans are soon turned upside down when he meets the runaway teenager Meg, who’s dealing with some family demons of her own. Together they forge an unlikely friendship, as they embark on a road-trip adventure across the Nullarbor Plains in a race against time.

Along the way they encounter feral camels, a magical pink lake, highway thieves, cliff-top parties, a speed-loving truckie, an underworld fight ring, suspicious cops, and the world’s most musically appreciative motorcycle gang. Over eight hot days, Lucky and Meg drive, hitch and scam their way across the scorching desert continent – with the upright piano never leaving their side - on a journey that will ultimately make them both feel more at peace with everything in life that they’ve been kicking against.
