Zack continues to keep his HIV diagnosis a secret in EastEnders

But will Zack be there for Whitney and the baby?

As he starts his HIV medication, Zack is riddled with guilt that he hasn’t shared his diagnosis with Whitney who is reeling from the recent news surrounding their baby’s health.

Following words of reassurance, Zack convinces Whitney to visit the hospital for additional testing and whilst at the hospital, Zack begins to suffer side effects from his medication.

When Chelsea suspects that something is wrong with Whitney, she remains tight-lipped on the situation when questioned in front of Finlay and Felix. In an attempt to lighten the mood, they host a movie night to distract Whitney but are interrupted by a visitor.

Struggling to come to terms with recent events, Zack breaks down to Sharon who has grown increasingly worried for his wellbeing. Still feeling ashamed about his recent HIV diagnosis, he can't bring himself to share this news with Sharon just yet. Instead, he reveals Whitney’s recent Omphalocele diagnosis.

Sharing wise words of advice and drawing from her own experiences of being a parent, Sharon vows to support her brother and encourages him to fight for Whitney and the baby. Which leaves Zack feeling lighter, having shared some of his emotional turmoil.

As she misplaces her scan photo at home, Whitney is frantic and breaks down in front of Chelsea and reveals all. Comforting Whitney, Chelsea shares words of advice from her own experiences.

It's been announced that EastEnders is working closely with SOFT UK and Antenatal Results and Choices on a new story which will see Whitney Dean and Zack Hudson’s baby diagnosed with Edwards’ Syndrome. This is so that they can accurately reflect and raise awareness of Edwards’ Syndrome, whilst sensitively portraying the tough decisions that prospective parents are faced with following a diagnosis.

EastEnders continues Mondays to Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One
