Bernice to run the B&B in Emmerdale as Brenda and Pollard announce their retirement

And she tries to recruit people for her menopause support group.

On Christmas day Liam starts his first visit of the day over at the Dingles. Knowing that he has two more trips to make, Liam tries to turn down a plate of food but has no luck. Already stuffed from the food at the Dingles, Liam arrives at Holdgate for his second visit of the day and is stunned to see a table with piles and piles of food!

Having eaten and drunk too much at Rishi's, Liam hauls himself down the street and Bernice tells him they’ve saved him some food. As she takes a tea towel off a plate, Liam is faced with a plate piled high with Christmas food and knows what he has to do.

Meanwhile, with the noise of the party trickling in, Leyla closes the door behind her in Tug Ghyll and eats a tragic Christmas meal for one.

Over at Brook Cottage, Liam and Bernice share a charged moment which ends in a kiss, but has he bitten off more than he can chew?

Annoyed at Nicola's interference, Bernice feels like everyone is treating her menopause as a joke. And as she wallows in her own self-pity and menopause struggles, Bernice agrees to get help.

Ahead of the New Year's Eve party, DJ Bob starts to set up his gear but is mocked for his out-of-date tunes.

Feeling that the conversation around menopause needs a makeover, Bernice senses a project coming on and tries to recruit people to her menopause support group and when Pollard reveals a position at the B&B that may be up for grabs, Bernice has an idea.

When Brenda tells a shocked Nicola that she and Pollard are retiring, Bernice shows off her plans for the B&B and she's chuffed when Pollard gives her the job.

As they make plans for the B&B, Bernice and Bob bounce off each other and Bernice is thwarted in her plans to get started when Mandy insists she works out her one-month notice.

As Mandy contemplates having to close the Salon, she's livid when Bernice plots to take Wendy and Bob’s business away from the Salon. But when Mandy fires her on the spot, Bernice is happy to know it’s played out just as she would have hoped.

Emmerdale continues Mondays to Fridays at 7.30pm on ITV1
