Can a mysterious stranger help Charity face her trauma?

 20-26 JUNE

As they bond over their shared struggles, Charity and Cain acknowledge that their lashing out stems from internal pain, and she encourages him to talk to Moira and Liam. But despite his urging, she refuses to open up about her own pain.

Later, Chas feels guilty for concealing Charity's secrets after Mack confesses to her that he feels clueless and inadequate in supporting Charity.

When Mack attempts to talk to her, Charity rejects him. Overwhelmed and unable to be near him, a tearful Charity speeds off in her car. Broken and on the verge of a breakdown, Charity stands alone at the edge of a lake, ignoring a call from Mack.

After failing to find her on their searches, Charity's family regroup, and Mack, beside himself with worry, takes the executive decision to call the police.

Back at the lake, a vacant Charity stares into the distance before hearing a rustling behind her. When a stranger appears, she notices Charity's obvious distress and attempts to help her.

When the stranger goes to touch her, encouraging her to open up, Charity instantly decks her. Shaken, Charity apologises profusely for hitting her, but the stranger suggests the reaction was due to being touched without permission. Assured she can be trusted, Charity prepares to open up to the stranger.

Meanwhile, Mack talks to the police about Charity's disappearance. When he asks Chas if she knows anything he doesn’t, will she continue to lie to him?

Emmerdale continues Monday, Tuesday and Thursday on ITV1 with first look episodes available from 7am on ITVX
