After selecting the Village Hall as their wedding venue, Amy and Matty’s excitement is slightly undercut by Claudette’s strained reaction to the information that Matty is trans.
Soon, Claudette’s beliefs cause her to take a misguided stance forbidding Amy and Matty from marrying in the Village Hall as it’s Church property.
Although Suzy is quick to propose finding a new venue, it's clear Matty has been blindsided by Claudette’s prejudice.
Later in the Hide, Claudette’s hurtful stance on the Village Hall pushes Matty to confess that he just wants to experience his wedding day as himself rather than as other peoples’ trans role model.
Processing Matty’s desire for a scaled-down wedding, Amy tries to hide a flicker of disappointment.
