As she still doesn't know whether or not she can trust Ray.
Spotting Jack at the bar, Mel tells him that Ray is sticking to his story about his hand. But when Jack reveals some new information, she asks him to find out more. Not wanting this to be a favour, Mel later hands him a wad of cash, making it very clear that this is a job.
Thrilled by Ray's anniversary surprise, Mel's mind quickly turns elsewhere when Jack informs her that her has news. But having decided to trust Ray, she tells him that she doesn't want to know. What she doesn't know is that Ray is watching them from across the road.
When he later questions Mel over her exchange with Jack, she's forced to admit that she wanted information which leads to the two of them arguing.
Later in The Vic, Mel makes sure everyone knows just how angry she is with Ray but it's not long before they come round and join each other for a drink.
However, her suspicions resurface when Ray receives an urgent phone call and has to rush off so she pays Jack a visit to see what he has found out.
Still reeling from her discovery, Mel warns Ray to stay away but she soon has yet another change of heart and invites him over for dinner and makes a surprising proposition.
