Frank Skinner to Host the 2018 Edinburgh TV Awards

Writer, comedian, TV and radio presenter Frank Skinner has today been announced as host of this year's prestigious Edinburgh TV Awards.

In their 17th year, the highly-coveted awards form one of the highlights of the TV Festival calendar, recognising outstanding talent, and the incredible breadth of genres that broadcasters and production companies produce year after year.

At the TV Awards ceremony on Thursday 23rd August, Skinner will announce to delegates the winners of categories including Channel of the Year, Production Company of the Year, and this year, for the first time a number of new categories allowing the TV Festival to celebrate everything from international drama series to the best breakthrough talent.

The deadline for first round entries for all categories is Friday 11th May, 2018.

Speaking about hosting the awards, Frank Skinner said “Having finally reached that plain of consciousness from which I can watch others winning things and feel no pain, I am, at last, ready to host the Edinburgh TV Awards. And what host could ask for a better wind beneath his wings than an audience of TV executives? I cannot wait.”

Last year, BBC One picked up the coveted Channel of the Year gong, while the Production Company of the Year went to The Crown-producer, Left Bank Pictures.

This year’s TV Moment of the Year category will open from June, with voting taking place via the Festival app, and remain open until Thursday, 23rd August, the day of the Edinburgh TV Awards ceremony.
