Isaac uses Ruby in EastEnders to find out more about his brother

But will she be willing to talk about her father?

With Martin worried that Arthur is missing Lily, Ruby reminds him that they can't pander to Lily.

In the Café, Martin asks Lily to move back in, but she tells him that she's happy with Jean. And when Ruby overhears Lola on the phone to Lexi, she wonders if she has any tips on how to handle her stepdaughter.

Taking Lola’s advice Ruby strikes a deal with Lily - she'll stay at Jean's once a week. And Jean is impressed with Ruby's negotiating.

Distracted, Isaac snaps at Lola again and puts it down to worrying about his student. Quickly changing his tune, he takes Lola for a drink, unaware that Lola has clocked the small changes in her boyfriend.

Over at The Vic, Ruby thanks Lola for her advice and Isaac blurts out another suggestion he uses at school. Appreciative, Ruby invites them over to hers for a drink.

When Lola muses that that they might need to pull a rabbit out of a hat to help Arthur, Isaac makes a call and later shows up with a surprise. A surprise that leaves Martin and Ruby flabbergasted. Sensing the awkward atmosphere, Isaac explains and Lola worries about the erratic gesture.

In the Square, Ruby invites Lola and Isaac for dinner and Lola agrees to sit in on Isaac's visit with the nurse. However, when he lies to Rafe about keeping up with his meds and routine, Lola's worries grow. But Isaac promises Lola he feels.

Later, Patrick feels emotional when Isaac tries on some of Paul’s clothes and they discuss Ruby’s dad, Johnny, and Ruby is later taken aback when Isaac brings him up over dinner. But as Ruby warms up, she eventually begins to talk about her dad.

When they’re alone, Lola adds that Johnny was definitely no saint, leaving Isaac to wonder. As Isaac continues to dig for information on Paul, he asks Ruby and Martin to borrow their photo albums, pretending it’s for kids at school to see what Walford was like back in the day.

Despite Ruby's wariness, Martin happily hands them over. And when Isaac shows Patrick, he begs Isaac to let it go. But it’s clear Isaac has no plans to listen.

EastEnders continues Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays on BBC One
