The format has already been a huge hit in over 20 territories.
At this year's Edinburgh Television Festival, it was announced that Jimmy Carr will host the UK version of international hit Prime Video format, Last One Laughing UK.
Famous for his dark humour, one liners and THAT laugh, Jimmy Carr challenges 10 of Britain’s funniest comics to spend the day together without so much as cracking a smile. Over the course of the series, they will use every ounce of their comedic talents to try and break their opponents without cracking up themselves.
And it’s not just their rivals they need to watch out for. The show is packed with comedy cameos, format twists and surprises designed to lure a smile from the players and belly laughs from viewers.
The rules are simple: laugh and you’re out. It’s a stellar line up of British comedy talent as you’ve never seen them before, but who will be crowned the inaugural winner of Last One Laughing UK?
The six-part series will film this autumn and speaking about today's news, Jimmy Carr said "I'm thrilled to be making Last One Laughing UK with Prime Video. It’s sure to deliver and if it doesn’t, it will leave the fun with your neighbours. Usually when I make a TV show with 10 brilliant comics, I’m expecting everyone to have a bloody good laugh - but not in this series. The last one laughing wins. It’s a great format and it’s been a huge hit around the world. I can’t wait to see who cracks up first."
To which Tara Erer, Head of UK and Northern Europe Originals for Amazon MGM Studios, added "We're incredibly excited to bring the UK version of Last One Laughing to Prime Video. This show has been a huge success globally, and we can't wait to see how our talented UK comedians put their own spin on it. The UK has always produced world class comedy and having Jimmy Carr on board as the host is a fantastic addition. His sharp wit and comedic brilliance are the perfect fit for overseeing the hilarity that is sure to ensue."
It'll be produced by Banijay UK labels Initial and Zeppotron.
Last One Laughing UK will launch in 2025 on Prime Video
