 16-22 AUGUST

With Robert in a dark place after his actions, John successfully succeeds in turning Victoria against him by exaggerating what happened. Visiting Robert, John rubs in how he's lost both Victoria and Aaron, leaving poor Robert in total despair and full of self-loathing.

Hearing a commotion, Aaron finds Robert smashing up his room and intervenes. As he comforts his ex, he's shocked by how completely broken Robert is who accepts that he's lost everything.

When Aaron admits that he has been pushing Robert away, due to his own unresolved feelings, the pair give in to their mutual desire and share a kiss.

As they lie in bed together, outside John and Victoria are just about to check on Robert together. But will they walk in on them?

The next day, Aaron’s fighting his guilt and has decided it was a one off, a mistake, but Robert believes he’s chosen him over John and Aaron is left in turmoil by Robert’s insistence that they’re destined to be together.

After learning that Nate's murder investigation has reopened, due to an inconsistency with Owen's supposed suicide note, John panics and seeing a grieving Tracy at the case being reopened adds to his guilt.

As John struggles to hold it together, Aaron is keen for them to both get away for a fresh start and suggests leaving the village is their only option. John's surprised but it’s music to his ears as his guilt over the Nate investigation hots up.

With Chas visibly upset to hear of their plans to go, Liam agrees to John taking some holiday leave and with plans made, John makes a chilling call as he increasingly fears that the murder investigation will impliace him.

Emmerdale continues Mondays to Fridays at 7.30pm on ITV1 with first look episodes available from 7am on ITVX
