Relieved to hear that no charges are being pressed, Mack goes to hug Charity, but she flinches out of his grasp.

Soon, he's encouraged when Charity texts to say he can bring the kids round tomorrow. That afternoon, as she welcomes the kids, Charity feels overwhelmed but puts on an act for their benefit. And when she hesitates to say how she feels to Mack, he understands, and they separately sense progress has been made.
