It's BACK... but with a twist!

Following the announcement last June that Disney+ was bringing the iconic dating show Blind Date back for a new 10-part reimagined and refreshed series, it has now been confirmed that former Love Island contestant Maura Higgins will be hosting.

The original series of Blind Date launched on ITV on 30th November 1985 and was hosted by Cilla Black until 2003, before being revived by Channel 5 in 2017, with Paul O'Grady as host for four series.

Promising to be bigger, better, and bolder than ever, the new series of Blind Date will begin in a secret location, where contestants must choose between three potential suitors, hidden from view behind the legendary Blind Date wall, the only thing standing between them and their potential true love just metres away.

With a host of unique, innovative and head-turning format twists, the show's daters will see if forever love can truly grow as they spend the summer living together, but potential new partners are always lurking behind the wall...

Speaking about Maura hosting, Angela Jain, head of content, Disney+ EMEA said "Maura is the perfect match for our version of Blind Date. Her distinctive straight-talking humour, coupled with her experience as a reality dating show contestant, means we know she has the gravitas plus the wit to bring Blind Date to new audiences. We’re very much looking forward to Maura helping our daters navigate their own journeys to find love as she steps into the famed Blind Date host role."

Made by Stellify Media, a Sony Pictures Television-backed company, and SO TV, part of ITV Studios, Blind Date is executive produced by Matthew Worthy and Kieran Doherty for Stellify Media and Graham Stuart for SO TV and Sean Doyle, Executive Director, Unscripted for Disney+.
