Nate's funeral descends into chaos as John is roped in to deliver the eulogy in Emmerdale

Is he about to confess everything?

 12-18 JULY

John is dreading the week ahead as he’s been unable to persuade Aaron to avoid attending Nate's funeral.

Still tormented by grief, Nate blames Tracy and despite playing happy families in front of Aaron, Robert’s still distrustful of John and Aaron asks John to convince Tracy into allowing the Dingles to attend the funeral. But when John begrudgingly appeals to Tracy, he's unsuccessful and Tracy’s surprised to learn she’s entitled to Nate’s life insurance.

Later, in the pub, Nate’s memorial commences, but unable to cope, Cain channels his grief into anger at Tracy for robbing him of his final goodbye with Nate.

Just as Caleb has got Cain to relax, Cara, Nate’s mother walks in. Infuriated to see him jovial, she angrily confronts him.

After learning that Tracy is getting the money from Nate’s life insurance, Sam, thinking it's a motive for murder, informs Cain, who explodes at Tracy and warns her he’ll be at tomorrow’s funeral, whether she likes it or not.

Outside the church, Tracy’s unnerved to see DS Walsh and following the hearse, the Dingles arrive en masse.

The funeral party quickly descends into chaos as an argument escalates. Unable to stand it any longer, John makes an emotional appeal for a truce but is roped into doing the eulogy instead of Tracy.

Aware of DS Walsh’s presence, John struggles as he starts the eulogy and it looks like under pressure he might confess…

Emmerdale continues Mondays to Fridays at 7.30pm on ITV1 with first look episodes available from 7am on ITVX
