Netflix is returning to the world of Top Boy with two new spin-offs, Jaq and Jonny Boy

Both series begin filming in 2027.

At this year's Edinburgh Television Festival, Netflix announced that it's returning to the world of Top Boy, almost three years since THAT crushing finale, which ended Dushane and Sully's stories.

Both Jaq and Jonny Boy will be set in the world created by Top Boy creator Ronan Bennett, who first launched Top Boy on Channel 4 in 2011, renamed Top Boy: Summerhouse when the series moved to Netflix for three new series.

In Jonny Boy, Barry Keoghan returns to play ruthless Jonny McGee, the violent Irish gangster who we first met in the final series of Top Boy.

Made by Wolfcub Productions and Cowboy Films, the five-part series will be written by Ronan Bennett and directed by Ali Abbasi. It'll be executive produced by Charles Steel and Alasdair Flind for Cowboy Films, Ronan Bennett for Easter Partisan Films, Keoghan and Byrne for Wolfcub Productions, Aubrey Drake Graham and Adel “Future” Nur for DreamCrew Entertainment and Maverick Carter and Jamal Henderson for SpringHill Studios, a Fulwell Entertainment label.

Speaking ahead of the new series, Wolfcub Productions' founders Barry Keoghan and Des Byrne said, "Wolfcub Productions is proud to bring Jonny McGee — the character introduced in Top Boy's third and final season — to the screen in JONNY BOY. We pitched our vision and idea to Netflix and the Executive Producers and they were so supportive in wanting to bring our passion project forward, exploring Jonny McGee’s origin story through a new bold lens."

And in Jaq, Jasmine Jobson returns to play Jacqueline, aka Jaq, in a new series that extends her story beyond Summerhouse. Last time we saw her, she was fresh off trying to return 25 kilos of drugs she’d stolen from Sully’s stash, lying down with her concerned girlfriend, Becks, assuring her that “Everything’s gonna be okay.”

The six-part series is written and created by Ryan Calais Cameron, who executive produces alongside Jasmine Jobson, Charles Steel and Alasdair Flind for Cowboy Films, Ronan Bennett for Easter Partisan Films, Keoghan and Byrne for Wolfcub Productions, Adel “Future” Nur for DreamCrew Entertainment, and Maverick Carter and Jamal Henderson for SpringHill Studios, a Fulwell Entertainment label.
