Paddy and Dylan sacrifice everything in a desperate bid to free Bear in Emmerdale

But will their confession lead to them being charged?

 14-20 MARCH

Under interrogation in the police station, Bear is stressed and is soon provoked by DS Walsh's theory that his wrestling experience means he knew what he was doing when he killed Ray.

Losing control, Bear deliberately lies that he killed Ray to protect Paddy's name, who is devastated that Bear has jeopardised himself with a life sentence.

The next day, Paddy describes how, after Bear spent months held in captivity on Ray and Celia’s farm, being brutalised daily, it’s his worst nightmare that now his dad is locked up on remand.

Desperate to free him, Paddy thinks it’s time he told the police the truth, even if it means implicating himself. But a loyal Dylan won’t let him do this alone, and Mandy’s heart breaks for their sacrifice.

At the Police Station Front Desk, Mandy and Paddy share a last hug before he and Dylan go in to confess to their part. However, Paddy and Dylan’s nightmare deepens when they are told they’re going to be charged with perverting the course of justice.

The family is distraught at this news, and with bail uncertain, the family, wanting to help anyway they can, wonder if they could find a witness to confirm Ray intended to kill Dylan.

As Laurel was the last to see Ray alive, they know who to ask. And as Dylan struggles with the impending court date, April’s concerned to see him so low. Could it all get too much for him?

Emmerdale continues Monday to Friday at 8pm on ITV1 with first look episodes available from 7am on ITVX
